The prisoner, James Guild, was, at the Oyer and Termines for Hunterdon County, in May last, found guilty of the murder of Catharine' Beakes. The court, at the instance of his counsel, humanely suspended the sentence of the law, in order that the opinion of the Supreme Court might be obtained, on some legal points which arose in the progress of the trial.
