On November 27, 1985, after a trial by jury, the defendant was found guilty of murder in the first degree and of unlawfúlly possessing a shotgun with a barrel less than eighteen inches in length. He was sentenced to two concurrent life terms at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction.
