Following a jury trial in the Superior Court, the defendant was convicted of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault with intent to kill. The latter convictions were returned on indictments which charged the defendant with assault with intent to commit murder. The charges arose out of an incident involving the defendant’s shooting at two State police officers who had come to his home to execute a search warrant for drugs.
