Defendant, W.B. Bolton, was convicted of burglary (720 ILCS 5/19 — 1(a) (West 2004)), following a jury trial in the circuit court of Du Page County. The trial court imposed an extended-term sentence of 12 years’ imprisonment. He now appeals, challenging both his conviction and his sentence. He argues that the trial court did not conduct an adequate inquiry into his pro se claim of ineffective assistance of counsel (see People v.
