On March 2,1968, the plaintiffs Hanna Wiska and Theresa Jancura were injured while riding as front-seat passengers in a 1964 Pontiac automobile operated by one Kazimierz Nikiel. The automobile, travelling at approximately twenty-five miles per hour, struck a utility pole, and the plaintiffs sustained serious facial lacerations and head and other injuries from impact with the Pontiac’s glass windshield.
