Proceedings having been instituted in the court of quarter sessions for the annulment of the charter of the borough of Hopewell, under the provisions of the Act of April 1, 1834, sec. 4, P. L. 164, remonstrances were filed by a number of citizens, and after hearing it was determined that it was not expedient to grant the prayer of the petitioners. Those who were opposed to the annulment of the charter had expended money in resisting the application.
