On November 18, 1893, a general creditors’ bill was filed in the Circuit Court of the United States for the Southern Division of the Eastern District of Tennessee against the East Tennessee Land Company, a corporation created by the State of Tennessee, and having its principal place of business in that State. On November 20, 1893, a decree was made in that suit declaring that the land company was insolvent, directing all creditors to come in and prove their claims on or before April 1, 1894, and appointing receivers to take possession of its property and collect all sums due to it.
