The Meadville Fuel Gas Company, a corporation formed in 1886, under the laws of this Commonwealth, for the purpose of furnishing natural gas for fuel and light to the public, entered into a contract with Vernon Township for laying and constructing the company’s *438pipes and conduits through the streets and highways of the township, by the terms of which contract the company agreed to furnish, without charge to either the township or the school district, sufficient gas for light and fuel for ten street lamps and two school houses.
