OPINION
AMIDEI, Justice.
Appellant Jake Adams was convicted by a jury of engaging in organized criminal activity to commit aggravated assault. See Tex.Pen.Code Ann. § 71.02(a) (Vernon Supp.2000). The trial court sentenced appellant to thirty years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.
