NIXON, District Judge.

Chevron Oil Company filed a bill of interpleader in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi to determine the interests of various parties in the operating rights under an oil and gas lease assigned by Chevron. The lease covers certain lands in Sections 31 and 36 of Township 5 North, Range 1 East, Franklin County, Mississippi, and was originally acquired by Chevron from the United States via a non-competitive, acquired-lands oil and gas lease.
