On February 17, 1955, Sara Levy filed her complaint against the state seeking damages in the amount of $7,500.00 as compensation for injuries, which she allegedly sustained by reason of the neglect of the state in failing to properly clear the walks of snow and ice at the Elgin State Hospital.

The facts of the case are as follows:

Sara Levy, claimant herein, resides in Chicago, Illinois. She has a son, Herbert Levy, who is an inmate or patient at Farm Colony No. 2, Elgin State Hospital, Elgin, Illinois. On January 31, 1954, Mrs. Levy and her husband, Abe Levy, drove out from Chicago to the City…
