Plaintiff, a minor, sued by next friend, to recover for injuries received in a crossing collision in the village of Diehlstadt in Scott county. The cause was tried before the court and a jury. Plaintiff recovered a judgment for $2500, and defendant appealed.

The first charge of negligence in the petition is general. Then follows charges of negligence predicated upon (1) a failure to keep a lookout, (2) running at an unusual and reckless rate of speed, (3) the humanitarian doctrine, (4) failure to give the statutory signals, and (5) defective appliances.
