In 1942 Greenland Development Corporation commenced the construction of seventy-five small dwelling houses on a tract of land which it owned in Norfolk county near the eastern limits of the city of Norfolk. When the foundations for the first ten houses were being laid out on the ground, a salesman for Allied Heating Products Company, Incorporated, interested the Greenland Corporation in a heating unit known as “Fluemaster.” This type of furnace is manufactured by the Round Oak Manufacturing Company of Dowagiac, Michigan, and at that time Douglas & Seidler of Washington, D.
