The Chancellor.
To understand the questions arising in this case, it is necessary to refer to the history of this church and congregation from its first organization, between eighty and ninety years since. Its records only extend back to October, 1763 ; but its earlier history is contained in a letter transmitted to the classis of Amsterdam, in February, 1766, signed by the the then minister, eiders, and deacons of the church.
