Appeal from an order of the Supreme Court (Connor, J.), entered May 14, 1997 in Columbia County, which denied defendant’s motion for summary judgment dismissing the complaint.
On June 17, 1993, plaintiff Jennifer Schrader (hereinafter plaintiff), an eighth-grade student at Taconic Hills Middle School in the Town of Hillsdale, Columbia County, attended a social studies class taught by Royce Carney, who had taught at *742the school for 27 years.
