MICHAEL, Circuit Judge:
Charles R. Riley sued James M. Dorton, a police detective, under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, al*115leging that Detective Dorton used excessive force against him during interrogation after his arrest.1 The district court granted Detective Dorton’s motion for summary judgment because Riley suffered only de minimis injury at the hands of the detective.
