|tA Crittenden County jury awarded appellee Hotel Associates, Inc. (HAI), $13,000,000 in compensatory damages and $12,000,000 in punitive damages against appellant Holiday Inn Franchising, Inc. (Holiday Inn). On Holiday Inn’s post trial motion, the circuit court reduced the compensatory award to $10,056,000 and the punitive award to $1,000,000. Both sides now appeal. Holiday Inn argues that the circuit court erred in denying its motion for a directed verdict on HAI’s claims for fraud and promissory estoppel and in submitting the issue of punitive damages to the…
