OPINION

Following a bench trial in the circuit court of Kane County, defendant, Charles E. Clendenin, was convicted of unlawful possession of child pornography (720 ILCS 5/11 — 20.1(a)(6) (West 2002)). The appellate court reversed and remanded. 395 Ill. App. 3d 412. We granted the State’s petition for leave to appeal. 210 Ill. 2d R. 315(a). For the reasons that follow, we reverse the judgment of the appellate court and remand this cause to that court for further proceedings…
