This was an action brought to recover the balance due upon a building contract. The plaintiff agreed to erect a brick building for defendant upon a lot in Brushton, a part of the city of Pittsburg. By the terms of the written contract between the parties, the work was to be done, according to the plans and specifications, “under the direction and to the satisfaction of Rieger & Currier, architects, acting for the purposes of this contract as agents for the owner,” and all payments were to be made “ upon written certificates of the architects to the effect that…
