On the 17th day of September, 1907, appellee was injured while working for appellant at its stave mill in Crawford County, Arkansas. At the time of his injury appellee had been working at the mill about two weeks. He was an illiterate young man, about nineteen years of age, and had never worked around machinery like that before.
