OPINION

WEISBERGER, Chief Justice.

This case comes before us on appeal from a Superior Court judgment entered in favor of the plaintiff Suanne Shayer (Suanne) in an allegedly insufficient amount. The plaintiffs contend that the trial justice erred in denying Suanne’s motion for a new trial or an additur. They also argue that the trial justice erred in directing verdicts against the minor plaintiffs’ claims for loss of society, substituting the defendant driver in the place of an insurance carrier, and admitting evidence of Suanne’s intoxication.
