A careful reading of the voluminous testimony in this case shows that the unfortunate misunderstanding between the owners and the crew, leading to the present controversies, has arisen from the double-faced dealing of the master, Baynor. It must be borne in mind that seamen of this class are generally ignorant; and are often imposed on, and that such imposition makes them suspicious. The libelants were hired at $25 a month ahd a bonus of three cents for every 1,000 fish caught during the season.
