OPINION

MURRAY, Justice.

We have consolidated two criminal cases for review. In Criminal Information No. 79-195, Joel Jenison (Jenison) is charged with carrying a pistol without a license in violation of G.L.1956 (1969 Reenactment) § 11 — 47-8(a), as amended by P.L.1975, ch. 278, § l. 1 In Criminal Information No. 79- 199, Jenison and Michele Cory (Cory) are charged with the unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, cocaine, in violation of G.L.1956 (1968 Reenactment) § 21-28 — 4.01(A)(2)(a), as enacted by P.L.1974, ch. 183, § 2. 2
