DUNN, Justice.

This is an appeal from a judgment of the circuit court in a teacher contract dispute. We affirm in part and reverse in part.

In August of 1982, appellants Sully Buttes School District # 58-2, the members of the Sully Buttes board of education, and Sully Buttes superintendent Don Rykhus (School District) found themselves in the position of losing their band instructor and needing another for the upcoming school year.
