In an early manifestation of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell 1 ,” plaintiff Marguerite Vass, a legal secretary for a prominent and prolific practitioner, visited a physician and complained of pain in her wrists and tingling in her fingers while engaged in ordinary tasks such as driving her automobile and cooking. She allegedly did not tell him that she was a legal secretary, and he allegedly did not ask what she did for a living.
