•Mary J. Knapp, a widow, sixty-eight or sixty-nine years of age, living alone "in Jerseyville, Jersey county, became suddenly and severely ill at her home on the evening of Thursday, the 21st day of April, 1904, and was found lying on the floor in an unconscious condition by Mrs. Kinsella, a neighbor. She recovered consciousness in fifteen or twenty minutes but pneumonia developed, and from this disease she died on the morning of the following Tuesday. She was ignorant, illiterate, superstitious, a very devout member of’ the Roman Catholic church and a regular attendant upon church services.…
