On direct appeal, we affirmed Donell King’s convictions for first degree sexual assault, kidnapping, and robbery. State v. King, 269 Neb. 326, 693 N.W.2d 250 (2005) (King I). However, we determined that the district court erred in sentencing King as a habitual criminal and therefore vacated the sentences and remanded the cause to the district court with directions to conduct a new enhancement hearing and resentence. On remand, the district court conducted a new enhancement hearing, determined King to be a habitual criminal, and sentenced him to 10 to 25 years’ imprisonment for first degree…
