The plaintiff, being the owner of a sawmill at Aldrich, Lewis county, N. Y., employed one Mills, who was a lawyer and insurance agent at Carthage, to attend to the insurance on the same and to procure such insurance thereon as he thought proper. One Baker was the agent of defendant and of several other insurance companies at Gouverneur, in whose territory the plaintiff’s mill was located, to whom the defendant had issued policies in blank and .authorized him to issue same, collect premiums thereon, make renewals and cancel insurance thereon, and Mills had placed four policies of insurance on…
