for the Court:

¶ 1. On September 28, 2011, Travon Brown shot and killed Cornelius Harris and Felisha Ruffin. A jury trial was held in the Lee County Circuit Court on November 4 through November 7, 2013, and Brown was found guilty of two counts of deliberate-design murder. He was sentenced to serve two terms of life imprisonment in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), with the terms running consecutively. After the trial, Brown filed a motion for a judgment notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV) or, alternatively, for a new trial, and the motion was denied.…
