This case arises out of the March 21, 1990, collision of an automobile driven by plaintiff Jean Lindquist (Jean) and a passenger train owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad, successor in interest to the Chicago and Northwestern Transportation Company (defendant), at the Oak Street crossing (crossing) near Crystal Lake. On March 9, 1998, plaintiffs, Jean and Charles Lindquist, filed a four-count amended complaint against defendant.
