RILEY, Circuit Judge.
Scott A. Medhaug (Medhaug) applied to the Social Security Administration (SSA) for disability insurance benefits and supplemental security income (collectively, benefits). After a hearing, the administrative law judge (ALJ) denied Medhaug’s claim, finding Medhaug retained the ability to perform his past relevant work. The SSA Appeals Council declined to review the ALJ’s decision. Medhaug appealed to the district court which reversed the ALJ and awarded benefits.
