On June 20, 1973, after 11 years of marriage, Elaine Horwich (plaintiff) and Edward Horwich (defendant) were divorced in the State of Nevada, then defendant’s State of domicile. Though this result was subsequently recognized as binding by both parties and the circuit court of Cook County, the latter court determined that it would have jurisdiction to provide for alimony, support and child custody.
