Appellants-flled in the circuit court of McLean county their petition for a writ of mandamus directing appellees, as drainage commissioners of district No. 1 in Gridley township, in said county, to levy assessments on the lands benefited within the said drainage district, for the purpose of repairing and maintaining the main ditch of the district through the lands of petitioners, and to repair and maintain the same so as to carry off the water flowing into it.
