Blume, Justice.
This is an action brought by the Hillsdale State Bank as plaintiff against James C. Christensen, W. W. Hale and Ella L. Hale as defendants, on a promissory note of $1230.25, made by defendants to said bank on January 2, 1919. Christensen made default but W. W. Hale and Ella L. Hale answered, alleging fraud as hereinafter mentioned to their damage in the sum of $7000. The case was tried to a jury.
