The appellant, Tashomba Rico Williams, was indicted by a Madison County grand jury for two counts of sexual torture, a violation of § 13A-6-65.1, Ala.Code 1975; two counts of sodomy in the first degree, a violation of § 13A-6-63, Ala.Code 1975; two counts of kidnapping in the first degree, a violation of § 13A-6-43, Ala.Code 1975; and one count of rape in the first degree, a violation of § 13A-6-61, Ala.
