Appellant contends that without regard to any defenses that might have existed between the original parties to the transaction, he is the bona fide holder of the note, having acquired the same for value before maturity and without notice of any defenses thereto, while the appellee contends that the note was not in fact endorsed to the appellant until long after its maturity; that he was not, therefore, an innocent purchaser, and that it had a complete defense to the note as against the payee thereof within the doctrine announced in Main v.
