The land or close in question, of which appellant became the owner on January 10, 1883, and has since been in possession, is bounded on the north by Front street, (one of the streets of the city of Sterling,) on the south by Rock river, and on the east and west, respectively, by certain other streets in said city. The right of way of the railroad, to the width of one hundred feet, extends' along the entire ■ front of appellant’s land, practically occupying the whole street, which at that place appears to have originally been one hundred feet wide.
