On January 6, 1977, the defendant herein was arraigned in the Criminal Court of the City of New York on two separate accusatory instruments charging him with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property (Penal Law, §§ 265.02, 165.40) in one *895complaint and criminal possession of a controlled substance (Penal Law, § 220.03) in the other, all three offenses alleged to have been committed at precisely the same date, time and place.
