STEWART, Circuit Judge:
This appeal encompasses five consolidated personal injury actions which were originally filed in Louisiana state court but were removed to federal district court on the basis of diversity. The suits arose because of problems plaintiffs allegedly suffered from intrao-cular lenses which had been surgically implanted into their eyes as treatment for their cataracts. The lenses were all manufactured by Intraocular Intermedies, defendant-appellant.
