Father filed a motion for modification of a 1974 dissolution decree, seeking: (1) custody of his minor child; (2) a determination that he was not in arrears in his child support payments; and (3) termination of his obligation to pay child support. Mother countered with a motion to quash service on the ground that the Oregon court lacked jurisdiction to determine custody. Her motion to quash was denied. Trial of the issues was bifurcated.
