Plaintiff Ruth Farkas (“Ruth”) originally brought this claim against defendant Arlene Farkas (“Arlene”), Ruth’s estranged daughter-in-law, for conversion of a number of pieces of art which had resided for many years in the home of Arlene and Bruce, Ruth’s son. Arlene then counterclaimed against Ruth for fraud and conversion of art, money, and other marital assets. Prior to trial, Ruth died.
