I dissent from the affirmance of two elements of damages awarded by the district court. The first of these is $20,000 awarded for conscious mental pain and suffering — presumed apprehension — preceding deaths which occurred in a manner of which we know nothing. The second is a half-million dollar award for lost additions to the decedents’ estates, additions which had not at their deaths (and might never have) oc*796curred.
