*709The defendant, Steven Bouley, appeals from his *710conviction by a District Court jury of operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs (OUI), G. L. c. 90, § 24(1)(a )(1), second offense, following a single-car accident.1 A responding emergency medical technician (EMT)2 testified that, in his opinion, the defendant was actively overdosing at the scene of the accident, and this testimony was corroborated by the observations of a responding police officer and the defendant's admission to having taken fentanyl.
