On June 15, 1910, there was a vacancy in the office of city architect of the city of Chicago, and the commissioner of the department of public works had made a requisition on the civil service commission for eligibles to fill the vacancy. On June 21, 1910, an examination was held by the commission and Theodore F. Laist received the highest rating, and on August 10, 1910, was certified to the department of public works in accordance with the provisions of an act to regulate the civil service of cities.
