Appeal from a judgment of the County Court of Clinton County (Ryan, J.), rendered August 26, 1998, upon a verdict convicting defendant of the crimes of attempted murder in the first degree, assault in the second degree (two counts), criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and promoting prison contraband in the first degree.
