DAUPHINOT, Justice.

INTRODUCTION

A jury convicted Appellant Todd Rankin of knowingly, by omission, causing serious bodily injury to a child under the age of fifteen. 1 The specific manner and means alleged in the indictment and found by the jury were “by failing to cover a septic tank containing liquid, at a time when the Defendant had assumed care, custody, or control of [the child] or had a legal duty to act because the Defendant was the father of [the child].” The jury sentenced Appellant to twenty years’ confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal…
