This is a class action brought ■on behalf of Negro children requesting the United States District Court to eliminate what has sometimes come to be called de facto segregation 1 in the elementary and junior high schools in Springfield, Massachusetts. The defendants are the Springfield School Committee, its members, and its Superintendent of Schools. The district court held hearings in Springfield, and after considering the evidence made a number of findings and entered an interlocutory order against the defendants.
