SELYA, Circuit Judge.

This case involves drug trafficking and related gun possession. After a second full trial- — -the first resulted in a hung jury — defendant-appellant Nestor Maldonado-Garcia was found guilty on one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and two related firearms counts.
