On the ninth day of May, A. D., 1920, certain buildings and personal property owned by the plaintiff corporation were destroyed by fire. It claimed that the fire was kindled by one George Stanchfield, who was formerly a patient at the Bangor State Hospital, an institution operated, maintained and supported as an asylum for the care, custody and treatment of insane persons.
