Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Kane County on three counts of murder, defendant was convicted of the lesser offense of voluntary manslaughter (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 9 — 2) and was sentenced to a 10-year term of imprisonment in the Department of Corrections.
